Outside Amboy, Ca & The Kaiser Eagle Mountain Mine
Amboy is an almost deserted town along route 66 in the Mojave Desert. Amboy was established in the 1800's and was created as the first of a series of alphabetical railroad stations that were being built across the Mojave. The heyday for the town was after Route 66 opened in the late 1920's. Amboy's demise came when I-40 opened in the early 1970's. Rumor has it that Amboy was the inspiration for the town "Radiator Springs" in the movie "Cars".

The Kaiser Eagle Mountain Mine. Eagle Mountain is a closed and mostly abandoned mine deep in the Mojave Desert. Eagle Mountain was started in the 1940's and operated until around 1983. It is considered a Modern Ghost Town with row after row of cookie cutter houses.
