South Mountain Park, Arizona - South Mountain Park is a 16,000-acre desert preserve just a few miles south of downtown Phoenix. The park is an excellent example of the local desert ecosystem. Several different cacti can be seen in the park including plenty of saguaros, the cactus most people associate with the Sonoran Desert.
